Results

JP Sears channel subscriptions grew by 300% and watch time grew by 185% in last 10 months, in comparison to the 10 months prior. Variety of channel themes were added through playlists and event links were added to the channel and videos resulting in a greater cross-promotion for the base viewers.

Context

JP Sears is a well-known comedian and wanted to leverage his existing large YouTube channel audience to increase sales of his shows and his viewership. However, his channel growth had slowed down in the last few months. Vireo Video was approached with a task to help grow the channel and event and merch sales through organic traffic.

Pain Point

In the last few years, his videos would get a certain recognition, but there was no clear translation to event sales from the channel. In addition, the channel revenue was not comparable to other channels of the same size.

Solution

Vireo Video recommended and executed full channel optimization according to the best practices – metadata, interactive in-platform elements, playlists and more. We also advised on design changes such as best performing thumbnails on the channel based on the CTR analytics of previous videos. After channel analysis was performed, we also advised on the most popular themes for the content on the channel and the potential upload schedule/frequency for higher potential success.

Results

Full channel re-optimization, content management and content and thumbnail suggestions had a great impact on the channel. In the first month of working on the channel we saw a 282% increase in monthly subscribers and 34% increase in unique viewers coming to the channel. We also saw a 52% increase in watch-time on the channel.

In the second month, we saw a great continued increase in subscribers and overall channel revamp success. We also tracked specific optimization success on older videos, a week after the optimization was completed, see examples below:

At the end of our work with JP Sears channel, the channel had surpassed 1m subscribers, which was one of the internal goals when we took on the channel. Overall channel growth saw an increase of Subscribers by 300%, Watchtime by 185%, Views by 147% and Impressions by 128%.
